Watch glowing strands braid into a rope that carries the music from its waist to its ends with Filament. Six presets, traveling waves and band reactions, moving cameras, and transparent backgrounds.

Filament braids dozens of glowing strands into a single rope that twists across the frame. The music enters at the rope's waist and travels out to both ends: the waveform bends the rope like a wave on a string, each strand flares on its own side when its part of the spectrum peaks, and bass, mid and high notes send bulges, knots and thicker strokes running along it. Start with Spectral Braid, try Golden Wire for a tight metallic twist, Glacier Rope for a thick, slow cable, or Neon Ribbon for a flattened band.
Open SHARE A LOOK, choose a preset from FACTORY LOOK, and select COPY LOOK LINK. The link opens that original preset with its audio reactions. Personal slider edits and music are not included. Use OPEN LOOK to preview what the recipient will see.
Open SHARE A LOOK, select PREPARE MY LOOK, then choose COPY MY LOOK LINK. The link includes your current visual settings, modulation routes, and generator settings. Music is not included. Use OPEN MY LOOK to preview the result. Prepare a new link after making more edits.
On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.
Modulated control
Section
What the route changes
Bundle Radius
Core
Sets how thick the rope is at rest.
Braid Twist
Core
Sets how many times the strands wind around each other along the rope. Higher values braid it tighter.
Reach
Core
Sets how far the rope runs before it tapers away. Higher values carry it past the edges of the frame.
Waveform Displacement
Core
Sets how far the playing waveform bends the rope. The bend starts at the waist and travels out to both ends.
Spectrum Flare
Core
Sets how far each strand flares out when its part of the spectrum peaks. The flare travels out along the rope.
Signal Travel
Core
Sets how long the music takes to travel from the waist to the ends. Zero moves the whole rope at once.
Line Width
Material
Sets the thickness of each glowing strand.
Brightness
Material
Sets how brightly the strands glow.
Glow
Material
Sets the strength of the soft bloom around the brightest strands.
Hue
Colors
Chooses the color at one end of the rope.
Color Spread
Colors
Sets how far the colors sweep around the color wheel from one end of the rope to the other.
Bass Swell
Band Reactions
Sets how far bass swells the rope in a bulge that runs along it. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value.
Mid Braid
Band Reactions
Sets how tightly mid-range notes knot part of the braid as they travel along the rope. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value.
High Gauge
Band Reactions
Sets how much high notes thicken the front strands as they travel along the rope. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value.
Spin
Animation
Turns the whole braid around its length. Negative values turn the other way.
Breath
Animation
Sets how much the rope thickens and thins as it breathes. Zero holds it steady.
Depth Displacement
Camera
Sets how round the rope is. Zero flattens it into a ribbon; higher values give it more depth as it turns.
Camera Speed
Camera
Sets how quickly the camera travels along its path.
Camera Travel
Camera
Sets how far the camera wanders from its chosen view; 0 holds it still and higher values sweep it through wider arcs.
Sets how thick the rope is at rest. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Braid Twist
0–22; default 5.5
Sets how many times the strands wind around each other along the rope. Higher values braid it tighter. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Reach
1.42–4; default 1.55
Sets how far the rope runs before it tapers away. Higher values carry it past the edges of the frame. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Waveform Displacement
0–1.2; default 0.34
Sets how far the playing waveform bends the rope. The bend starts at the waist and travels out to both ends. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Spectrum Flare
0–5; default 2.5
Sets how far each strand flares out when its part of the spectrum peaks. The flare travels out along the rope. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Signal Travel
0–2; default 0.9
Sets how long the music takes to travel from the waist to the ends. Zero moves the whole rope at once. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Sets how far bass swells the rope in a bulge that runs along it. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Mid Braid
0–4; default 0.85
Sets how tightly mid-range notes knot part of the braid as they travel along the rope. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
High Gauge
0–6; default 1.3
Sets how much high notes thicken the front strands as they travel along the rope. Its audio signal sweeps from nothing up to this value. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Chooses continuous camera motion, motion that follows audio level, or a close traveling view.
Camera View
INSIDE, CORE, WIDE, TOP, ISO, FLY-THROUGH
Chooses the starting view in Orbit or Audio mode. Fly mode uses its close traveling view. Drag the canvas to explore.
Camera Path
ORBIT, HELIX, DRIFT, SURGE
Chooses the camera movement: Orbit, Helix, Drift, or Surge.
Depth Displacement
0–1.5; default 1
Sets how round the rope is. Zero flattens it into a ribbon; higher values give it more depth as it turns. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Canvas Fill
0.75–2; default 1.35
Sets how much of the canvas the artwork fills; higher values zoom in so it fills more of the screen, and lower values pull back to show more of the surroundings.
Scene Depth
0.2–4; default 2
Spreads the rope's strands apart in depth so camera movement reveals their layers.
Camera Speed
0–1; default 0.08
Sets how quickly the camera travels along its path. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Camera Travel
0–1.5; default 0.2
Sets how far the camera wanders from its chosen view; 0 holds it still and higher values sweep it through wider arcs. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Adds a starfield that reveals camera movement through parallax.
Star Brightness
0–1; default 0.6
Sets the brightness of the optional stars.
Some controls appear only after you enable a related mode or style. The settings panel always reflects the options available for the current selection.
Watch the rope's waist on a drum hit: the bulge starts in the middle and runs out to both ends. Raise Signal Travel to slow it down, or set it to zero to move the whole rope at once.
Lower Depth Displacement to flatten the rope into a ribbon, then raise Braid Twist for a tighter weave.
Use Background Opacity at zero to place the rope over a Studio backdrop. Presets keep your chosen background opacity.
Add this visualizer in Studio to combine it with a backdrop and export a video. This is an independent tribute to classic music visualizers; it does not load MilkDrop preset files.
