Dotwell

Fly into a 3D tunnel of glowing dots with Dotwell. Bass swells the walls, mids bend the rings, highs sparkle and beats send rings of light out of the dark well toward you.

Dotwell is a tunnel of glowing dots that spirals into a dark well. Seen head-on, rings of dots crowd toward the void; drag the picture to see it from the side as a real 3D funnel, or scroll to fly inside until the dots surround you. Every part of the music leaves its own echo that rises out of the well and travels toward you, so the tunnel never changes all at once: bass swells the walls, mids bend each passing ring into turning lobes, highs make single dots sparkle, and beats send bright rings. The spectrum lights the wall around each ring, from bass at the bottom to highs at the top, and the waveform shapes the rings as they travel. Lens effects finish the look: near dots blur into soft discs, and the brightest highlights throw horizontal lens streaks. Start with Dotwell, try Hypertube to fly fast through a rainbow tube, Sidewinder to see the funnel from the side, or Glass Beads for lit 3D beads with a shallow focus. Color Presets recolor any look without changing its shape.

How do I share a factory look?

Open SHARE A LOOK, choose a preset from FACTORY LOOK, and select COPY LOOK LINK. The link opens that original preset with its audio reactions. Personal slider edits and music are not included. Use OPEN LOOK to preview what the recipient will see.

How do I share my edited look?

Open SHARE A LOOK, select PREPARE MY LOOK, then choose COPY MY LOOK LINK. The link includes your current visual settings, modulation routes, and generator settings. Music is not included. Use OPEN MY LOOK to preview the result. Prepare a new link after making more edits.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Modulated controlSectionWhat the route changes
SpiralTunnelTurns each ring a little further than the last, so the rows of dots curl into spiral arms. Zero gives straight rows; negative values curl the other way.
Dot SizeTunnelSets dot size as a share of the space each dot has. Larger dots give a little less light each.
FlareTunnelOpens the mouth of the tunnel into a wide bell. Zero is a straight tube; higher values make a funnel that fills the frame head-on.
TaperTunnelNarrows the tunnel toward the well.
Ring SpacingTunnelCrowds the rings toward the well above 1, or toward the mouth below 1.
VoidTunnelSets how much of the deep tunnel disappears into the dark well.
BreatheTunnelSets how much the tunnel widens and narrows on a slow breath.
Breathe RateTunnelSets the speed of that breath.
DefocusLensSets how much dots away from the focus blur into soft lens discs.
FocusLensSets the distance that stays sharp.
GlowLensSets the soft glow around bright dots.
Lens StreaksLensSets the horizontal lens streaks thrown by the brightest highlights.

HueColorChooses the main color.
Depth ColorColorShifts the color with depth, from the mouth to the well.
Arm ColorsColorShifts the color around each ring, so the spiral arms take different colors.
SaturationColorSets how vivid the colors are. Zero is white light.

Beat SurgeMotionKicks the flight forward on each beat. Its default route fires on beats.
SpinMotionTurns the whole tunnel. Negative values turn it the other way.
Motion SpeedMotionSets how fast the tunnel flies, spins and breathes. Zero holds the motion while the music keeps sending echoes.
Fly InCameraFlies the camera from outside the mouth into the tunnel. Scrolling over the picture sets it too; inside, the lens widens so the dots surround you.

TiltCameraTilts the view above or below the tunnel. Dragging the picture up or down sets it too.
LensCameraSets the field of view. Wider values feel faster and more immersive.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • Scroll over the picture to fly into the tunnel, and drag to see it from the side.
  • Raise Echo Travel to watch each beat ring rise slowly out of the well.
  • Give Bass Swell, Mid Warp and High Sparkle different bands so each part of the music moves a different part of the tunnel.
  • Set Defocus high and Focus low for soft lens discs, then add Lens Streaks for bright flares.
  • Presets preserve your chosen Background Opacity.
