Chromatic Contours

Shape flowing ribbons with Chromatic Contours. Six looks explore warm ridges, fine icy filaments and views from within the moving layers.

Chromatic Contours carries colored ribbons through space. Music bends individual sections while highlights flow along the strands. Interior views surround you with winding ribbons that continue into the distance. Use Depth of Field, Focus Distance and Focus Range to soften strands outside your chosen focus; Glacier Map starts with a gentle focus effect. Start with Aurora Atlas for an exterior view, choose Glacier Map to move inside the ribbons, or try Ghost Ridges to surge through the center.

Quick start

  1. Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
  2. Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
  3. On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
  4. Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

How do I share a factory look?

Open SHARE A LOOK, choose a preset from FACTORY LOOK, and select COPY LOOK LINK. The link opens that original preset with its audio reactions. Personal slider edits and music are not included. Use OPEN LOOK to preview what the recipient will see.

How do I share my edited look?

Open SHARE A LOOK, select PREPARE MY LOOK, then choose COPY MY LOOK LINK. The link includes your current visual settings, modulation routes, and generator settings. Music is not included. Use OPEN MY LOOK to preview the result. Prepare a new link after making more edits.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Modulated controlSectionWhat the route changes
Map ScaleContoursSets how many turns the flowing ribbons make.
Contour CountContoursAdds separated bands of fine parallel filaments.
Ridge WidthContoursSets the thickness of each colored ridge.
DetailContoursAdds smaller rolling folds along each ribbon.
Wave BendContoursSets how strongly the playing waveform bends the contours.
Evolution SpeedContoursSets how quickly the map evolves. Zero stops this motion while music and history can still move.
Layer SpreadContoursSeparates the ribbon layers from a compact bundle to a broad flowing sheet.
Flow TwistContoursTwists the ribbons along their length in either direction.
HueColorChooses the first palette color.
Color SpreadColorSeparates the map colors around the color wheel.
BrightnessColorSets the brightness of the ridges.
Depth DisplacementCameraControls how far the shape moves away from its base surface.
Camera SpeedCameraSets how quickly camera changes or moves.
Camera TravelCameraSets how far the camera wanders from its chosen view; 0 holds it still and higher values sweep it through wider arcs.

Flow Twist-1–1; default 0.3Twists the ribbons along their length in either direction. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Color

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Hue0–360; default 170Chooses the first palette color. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Audio

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Sensitivity0–3; default 1Sets sensitivity to music. Zero leaves the quiet map.
Response0–1; default 0.3Sets how gradually the waveform bends and audio reactions settle.

Focus

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Depth of Field0–6; default 0Softens ribbons outside the focused distance. Zero keeps every layer sharp.
Focus Distance0.3–15; default 4.5Moves the sharp region nearer or farther. Raise Depth of Field to see the change.
Focus Range0.2–6; default 2Widens the region that stays sharp. Raise Depth of Field to compare narrow and broad focus.

Camera

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Camera ModeORBIT, AUDIO, FLYChooses the camera mode or style.
Camera ViewINSIDE, CORE, WIDE, TOP, ISO, FLY-THROUGHChooses the camera view mode or style.
Camera PathORBIT, HELIX, DRIFT, SURGEChooses the camera path mode or style.
Depth Displacement0–1.5; default 0.4Controls how far the shape moves away from its base surface. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Canvas Fill0.75–2; default 0.8Sets how much of the canvas the artwork fills; higher values zoom in so it fills more of the screen, and lower values pull back to show more of the surroundings.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • Raise Layer Spread to separate the ribbons, then choose Inside to move among them.
  • Set Evolution Speed to zero to isolate movement from music.
  • Presets preserve your chosen Background Opacity.
