Visualizer, Performer & Studio
The three modes in Audio Visualizers — Visualizer for browsing and customizing, Performer for live shows, and Studio for branded music videos — plus the visualizer bar and dock.
Audio Visualizers has three modes. Visualizer and Performer switch with the VISUALIZER / PERFORMER tabs in the /viz header — your audio source keeps playing when you switch, so you can move between them mid-session. Studio is the video-production mode, at /studio: stack visualizers with your cover art, text, and synced lyrics, then render a platform-ready file.
Visualizer Mode
Default mode. Browse, watch, and customize.
Visualizer mode is a full-screen canvas with a category sidebar on the left and the active visualizer's settings panel on the right.
What you can do:
- Browse 140+ visualizers across 13 categories in the left sidebar
- Rate visualizers, mark favorites, and filter/sort the sidebar (details)
- Tune every parameter of the active visualizer in the right panel, and save per-visualizer presets
- Drive parameters from named sources with Assign modulation on supported sliders
- Run the visualizer bar and dock (below) for multi-visualizer layouts
Who it's for: Anyone who wants to visualize music, explore the library, or dial in a look.
Performer Mode
The live-performance interface.
Performer mode replaces the sidebars with an immersive canvas and an auto-hiding control bar along the bottom.
What Performer mode adds:
- Preset grid — factory presets filtered by mood and visualizer family, launched with one click (Presets)
- Tap tempo — the central BPM button with a live intensity ring (Tempo)
- Scene Sequencer — automatic scene cycling with quick playlists and per-scene transitions (Scene Sequencer)
- MIDI & OSC — global MIDI Learn, APC Mini MK2 LED feedback, and an OSC bridge, all configured in the Performer Settings modal (MIDI Integration)
- Customize panel — the arrow toggle in the top-right opens the same per-visualizer settings as Visualizer mode, plus Save as Preset (Customize)
Who it's for: VJs running sets, live performers integrating visuals with music, streamers wanting reactive live switching.
On the Free tier, the Performer canvas shows a small "made with BeamTracer.com" watermark badge. Paid tiers remove it.
Studio
Video-production mode. A finished file for a track.
Studio lives at /studio — not a header tab on /viz. You load a track, stack layers on a canvas (visualizers, cover art, title, artist, synced lyrics), pick a platform, and render a real file in the browser.
Who it's for: Anyone shipping a branded music video for YouTube, Reels, TikTok, or Spotify Canvas.
See BeamTracer Studio.
Visualizer Bar & Dock
Two extra surfaces in Visualizer mode let you run small, always-on visualizers alongside (or instead of) the main canvas:
Visualizer Dock (V)
Press V (or click the pulse icon in the header) to open the dock — a strip of mini visualizer panels below the canvas. Use the + button to add visualizers, the remove button to close one, and drag panels to reorder them.
Visualizer Bar (B)
Press B to open the visualizer bar, a configurable multi-visualizer strip with more control:
- Add from the compact analyzers built for the bar; full-canvas modes stay in the main Visualizer
- Duplicate and Remove individual visualizer cells
- Drag to reorder cells
- Minimal mode — collapses the bar chrome for a clean look
- Pop Out — opens the bar in its own browser window, ideal for dragging to a second monitor while you keep working in the main window
The pop-out window stays synced to the main window's audio analysis.
Switching Between Modes
Click VISUALIZER or PERFORMER in the header. The audio element is shared, so playback continues seamlessly. The mode is also addressable by URL: /viz?mode=performer.
