The Bit
Watch a violet crystalline beacon morph slowly in silence and snap into a new shape on every fourth musical count.
The Bit floats one dark crystalline beacon in a wide orbit. Violet Cipher is the default, with violet seams and cool reflections. Without music, the plates and cavities morph slowly and continuously. With music and a detected tempo, the beacon snaps on the fourth count of each bar. All sliders have audio modulation, including the fold field, camera, surface, and environment. Choose Orbit with drag and zoom, an Audio camera that moves with sound, or a smooth Fly camera.

Launch the visualizer with its matching left-nav entry selected.
Quick start
- Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
- Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
- On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
- Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

Audio modulation
On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.
| Modulated control | Section | What the route changes |
|---|---|---|
| Fold Depth | Fold Field | Adds smaller repeated facets and deeper nested cavities at each step. |
| Cell Size | Fold Field | Sets the size and thickness of the beacon's repeated plates. |
| Fold Spread | Fold Field | Moves repeated plates apart to open or close the cavities between them. |
| Asymmetry | Fold Field | Shifts the repeated plate arrangement off center for an uneven silhouette. |
| Cycle Rate | Cycle | Sets the silent morph speed and the musical settling speed; snaps stay on every fourth count. |
| Morph Snap | Cycle | Changes the fold transition from a measured settle to a rapid mechanical cut. |
| Shudder | Cycle | Sets how far the fold planes vibrate after each discharge. |
| Shudder Rate | Cycle | Sets the frequency of the brief mechanical vibration. |
| Seam Width | Surface | Sets the width of the bright lines along facet edges and cavity junctions. |
| Discharge | Surface | Sets the brightness of each warm seam discharge. |
| Reflection | Surface | Sets how strongly the directional sky and ground colors appear on grazing facets. |
| Surface Light | Surface | Sets the subdued light on the beacon faces. |
| Fly Speed | Camera | Sets the pace of the smooth camera flight toward and away from the beacon. |
| Orbit Radius | Camera | Sets the mean distance of the camera orbit. |
| Camera Speed | Camera | Sets the orbit or audio camera movement speed. |
| Vertical Orbit | Camera | Sets the height of the slow vertical camera orbit. |
| Field of View | Camera | Sets the vertical camera lens, using the same framing convention as Angry Sphere. |
| Background Light | Environment | Sets the brightness of the directional navy and green environment. |
| Vignette | Environment | Darkens the environment toward the frame edges. |
| Background Opacity | Environment | Fades the backdrop while keeping the beacon visible for layering. |

Tips for a better audio visualization
- Start with the default Violet Cipher for violet seams and cool reflections; choose Crystal Beacon for coral and emerald or Ember Relay for a warm look.
- Raise Fold Depth for smaller repeated facets and deeper internal junctions; lower it for broader block-like plates.
- Use Fold Spread to open cavities and Cell Size to make the interlocking plates heavier or more delicate.
- Raise Morph Snap for a faster mechanical refold, then balance Shudder and Shudder Rate for the short vibration after each discharge.
- Keep Seam Width narrow and shape the onset with Discharge; Reflection and Surface Light reveal facets during the dark hold.
- Set Background Opacity to 0 to layer the beacon over another Studio source while keeping its reflective body and seams visible.
