Watch the spectrum rise as neon glass capsules with Pillarfall. Each column is a band, the waveform ripples along every rim, and beats send echoes out from each capsule.
Pillarfall reads the music as columns of glowing glass capsules, one column for each band of the spectrum, so loud frequencies stretch their capsules taller. The capsules sit in three ranks at different depths, and each rank answers its own part of the music: bass fattens the far rank, mids make the middle rank drift faster, and highs brighten the near rank's rims. The waveform ripples along every rim and travels across the columns, and each beat sends outlines rippling out from the capsules. Start with Pillarfall, try Neon Organ for tall single pipes, Sonar Pills for strong beat echoes, or Deep Columns to orbit through the ranks in perspective. Color Presets recolor any look without changing its shape.
On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Section
What the route changes
Width
Shape
Sets capsule width as a share of its column. Above 1 neighboring capsules overlap.
Height
Shape
Sets how tall each capsule is before the music stretches it.
Band Lift
Shape
Sets how far a loud band stretches its column. This is the spectrum.
Breathe
Shape
Sets how much the capsules widen and narrow on a slow breath.
Breathe Rate
Shape
Sets the speed of that breath.
Drift
Shape
Sets how far the capsules wander up and down.
Scroll
Shape
Slides the columns sideways. Negative values scroll the other way.
Bass Girth
Layers
Widens the far rank. Its default route follows the bass.
Mid Fall
Layers
Makes the middle rank drift faster. Its default route follows the mids.
High Rim
Layers
Brightens and sharpens the near rank's rims. Its default route follows the highs.
Layer Lift
Layers
Moves the three ranks apart vertically.
Layer Stagger
Layers
Moves the three ranks apart sideways.
Layer Depth
Layers
Sets how much softer and finer the far ranks look than the near rank.
Level Swell
Layers
Sets how much overall loudness lifts every capsule at once.
Rim
Material
Sets the brightness of the glowing outlines.
Rim Width
Material
Sets the thickness of the outlines.
Body
Material
Sets the brightness of the glass fill inside each capsule.
Softness
Material
Sets how soft the glass fill's edge is.
Glass Sheen
Material
Sets the glass highlight down each capsule. Its default route flares it with the highs.
Ambient
Material
Adds a faint glow between the columns.
Hue
Color
Chooses the color of the leftmost column.
Color Spread
Color
Sets how far the color travels across the columns. Negative values run the other way around the color wheel.
Gradient
Color
Shifts the color from one end of each capsule to the other.
Brightness
Color
Sets overall brightness while keeping highlights bounded.
Beat Echo
Beat Waves
Sets the strength of the outlines each beat sends out from the capsules. Its default route fires on beats.
Echo Spread
Beat Waves
Sets how far the beat outlines travel from each capsule.
Wave Bend
Beat Waves
Sets how strongly the playing waveform ripples along every rim.
Wave Trail
Beat Waves
Sets how far the waveform travels across the columns. Zero shows the same moment everywhere.
Motion Speed
Motion
Sets how fast the capsules drift, breathe and scroll. Zero holds them while music still reshapes them.
Perspective
Camera
Moves from a flat, long-lens view to a close, wide-lens view with deep parallax.
Orbit
Camera
Turns the view around the columns. Dragging the picture sideways sets it too.
Tilt
Camera
Tilts the view above or below the columns. Dragging the picture up or down sets it too.
Moves from a flat, long-lens view to a close, wide-lens view with deep parallax. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Orbit
-1.2–1.2; default 0
Turns the view around the columns. Dragging the picture sideways sets it too. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Tilt
-0.9–0.9; default 0
Tilts the view above or below the columns. Dragging the picture up or down sets it too. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Auto Orbit
0–1; default 0
Swings the view slowly on its own. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
