Spider Wire

A glowing spider web that breathes with the bass, carries the live waveform along every thread, and throws a shockwave across its silk on each beat.

Spider Wire spins a radial web in the Wire category: six rings of knots tied together by glowing threads. The rings swell with the bass and sway with the mids, each beat sends a bright shockwave racing out from the hub, and the highs throw sparks off the rim. The live waveform travels along every thread from the hub to the rim, so you can watch a sound cross the web. Colors follow the brightness of the music, from blue in a dark, bassy passage toward green and amber as it brightens. Tilt the web, or set the camera on one of its paths, to see it bulge like a sail in the wind, and bead the silk with dew drops. Six looks range from the face-on web to a deep funnel and a red widow web. Spider Wire requires WebGPU; see Browser Support for current platform details.

  1. Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
  2. Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
  3. On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
  4. Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Silk

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Dot Density0%–100%Beads the threads with dew drops. Zero leaves the silk bare; raise it for more drops. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Reverse FlowOn / OffSends the vibration from the rim in toward the hub instead of outward.

Camera

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Tilt-75°–75°Tips the web away from a face-on view so its depth and billow show. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Spin-1–1Turns the web slowly about its hub; negative values turn it the other way. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Camera PathORBIT, HELIX, DRIFT, SURGEChooses the slow travel path the camera follows around the web.
Camera Speed0–2Sets how fast the camera travels its path. Zero holds the camera still. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Reverse CameraOn / OffRuns the camera path in the opposite direction.

Audio

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Sensitivity0–3Scales how strongly the whole web answers the music.
Response0.02–0.8Higher values make the web answer the music faster; lower values make it breathe slowly and calmly.
Surge TriggerKICK, SNARE, DROP, OFFChooses what makes the middle of the web lunge outward.

Composite

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Background Opacity0–1Fades the dark backdrop so only the web shows over what is behind it.

Some controls appear only after you enable a related mode or style. The settings panel always reflects the options available for the current selection.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • Start with Orb Weaver for the face-on web, then choose Funnel Web to see it billow into depth.
  • Raise Vibration to make the threads swing harder, and lower Vibration Travel so a sound crosses the web faster.
  • Turn on Reverse Flow to send the vibration from the rim in toward the hub.
  • Set Color Follow to zero and use Hue Shift to hold one color, as Widow Silk and Moonlit Orb do.
  • Raise Dot Density to bead the threads with dew drops; Dew Line shows them tilted toward the light.
  • Choose Kick, Snare or Drop under Surge Trigger to decide what makes the middle of the web lunge outward, or Off to keep it still.
  • Drag the picture to orbit the web and scroll to move closer. Lower Background Opacity to layer the web over another Studio source.
