Binary System
Watch two fiery stars orbit through space, joined by a flowing plasma stream. Choose six looks and adjust the orbit, surface, and view.
Binary System is a screensaver of two unequal stars sharing a glowing plasma stream. The larger star stretches toward its smaller companion while their fiery surfaces ripple, fine flames rise from the edges, and the pair turns slowly through a dark starfield. Stellar Mix blends in brighter convective cells, irregular corona filaments, and faint colored haze. It keeps moving without music.
Open Binary System
Launch the visualizer with its matching left-nav entry selected.
Quick start
- Open Binary System; the stars begin moving without an audio source.
- Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
- Adjust Zoom, Orbit Speed, and Plasma Transfer to frame the pair and shape its motion.
- Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.
Presets and styles
Ember Transfer · Blue Giant · Red Contact · Solar Pair · Violet Accretion · Quiet Eclipse
Audio modulation
Binary System runs on its own. Its orbit, surface motion, and plasma transfer do not need music or a live input.
Settings reference
System
| Setting | Available values | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Zoom | 0.6–1.4 | Frame the full pair or move close enough for the donor star to pass beyond the edge. |
| Orbit Speed | 0–2 | Set how quickly the pair turns around its shared center; 0 holds the stars in place. |
| Plasma Transfer | 0–1 | Change how many glowing plasma parcels cross the narrow neck and how wide their flow becomes. |
Surface
| Setting | Available values | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Granular Detail | 0–1 | Set the scale and contrast of the mottled cells moving across both stellar surfaces. |
| Turbulence | 0–1 | Control how strongly bright and dark convection patches break up each photosphere. |
| Surface Speed | 0–2 | Set the independent drift speed of the granular stellar surfaces. |
| Corona | 0–1.5 | Set the intensity of the soft colored halo around both stars. |
| Stellar Mix | 0–1 | Blend fine solar filaments, pink-white hot accents, radial flame rays, and faint colored space haze into the binary system. |
Colors
| Setting | Available values | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Photosphere | Color | Sets the photosphere. |
| Hot Patches | Color | Sets the hot patches. |
| Hot Limb | Color | Sets the hot limb. |
| Corona | Color | Sets the corona. |
Space
| Setting | Available values | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Background | 0–1 | Set the brightness of the deep colored haze behind the pair. |
| Starfield | 0–1 | Set how many subordinate warm points appear in the distant starfield. |
| Background Color | Color | Sets the background color. |
| Star Color | Color | Sets the star color. |
| Background Opacity | 0–1 | Fade the colored space backdrop while keeping the binary system visible. |
Some controls appear only after you enable a related mode or style. The settings panel always reflects the options available for the current selection.
Tips for your screensaver
- Start with Ember Transfer for the warm golden pair, then choose Blue Giant or Violet Accretion for a cooler view.
- Pull the view back to see both stars, or move closer for a view of the donor’s fiery surface.
- Slow the orbit to study the plasma stream while the surfaces keep moving.
- Raise Stellar Mix for more active hot spots and irregular flame filaments, or lower it for the quieter binary look.
- Lower the background opacity to layer the stars over another source.
