Chevron Flow

Light rows of nested neon arrows one after another toward their tips, with an afterglow trail, while their arms open and close to the music.

Chevron Flow draws three rows of nested arrows, each made of eleven parallel neon tubes. The top and bottom rows point right and the middle row points left. One arrow at a time burns white-hot and passes the light toward the tips, leaving a fading afterglow behind it, while the unlit arrows keep a soft rest glow. The arms slowly open and close. By default the bass lifts the rest glow and deepens that motion, the mids speed up the sequence, and the highs lengthen the trail.

Quick start

  1. Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
  2. Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
  3. On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
  4. Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Glow0–1.5Bloom around the lit tubes. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Audio

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Sensitivity0–3How strongly the music drives the arrows.
Response0–1Higher values smooth the reaction to the music; lower values follow every hit.

Sequence

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Sequence Speed-3–3Arrows lit per second toward the tips; below zero the sequence runs backward. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Echo Length0.3–4How many arrows trail behind the lit one as afterglow. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Hot Brightness0.3–5How bright the lit arrow burns. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Rest Glow0–0.6Glow of the unlit arrows, so every tube still reads as neon. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Camera

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
CameraSTAGE, AUDIOSTAGE holds the camera where you set it; AUDIO swings it around the arrows while the music plays.
Camera Speed0x–3xHow fast the AUDIO camera travels. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Camera Swing0–3.14How far the AUDIO camera swings around the arrows. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Orbit-3.14–3.14Turns the view around the arrows. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.
Height-1.5–1.5Raises or lowers the view. Use Assign modulation to choose a source.

Background

SettingAvailable valuesWhat it changes
Background Opacity0–1How much of the black background shows; at 0 only the tubes draw.

Some controls appear only after you enable a related mode or style. The settings panel always reflects the options available for the current selection.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • Start with Magenta Run, then compare Cyan Track for a quicker, tighter run or Amber Signal for a slow sequence with a long afterglow.
  • Raise Sequence Speed to pass the light along faster, or set it below zero to run it backward. Echo Length sets how many arrows trail behind the lit one.
  • Use Open Rate and Open Depth to make the arms open and close; set Open Depth to zero to hold the arrows still. Green Clap shows a deeper, faster swing.
  • Change Arm Angle, Arm Length and Chevron Overlap to reshape the arrows, then Tube Spacing and Tube Thickness to fine-tune the tubes.
  • Lower Hot Brightness or Glow if the lit arrow washes out on your screen, and raise Rest Glow to keep the unlit arrows visible.
  • Choose Deep Stage or raise Row Depth and Auto Orbit to see the rows from an angle, or pick Audio under Camera so the view swings around the arrows only while the music plays.
  • Lower Background Opacity to layer the arrows over another source in Studio.
