Line Dance

Ribbons of light choreographed around an axis that points into the screen, with audio-driven chromatic aberration and radial blur.

Line Dance is a kinetic line composition in the Lines category. Ribbons of light swing around an axis pointing into the screen, so the figure is read through depth and perspective rather than flat on the canvas. Five choreographies arrange the same ribbons differently — chords struck across a tilted ring, blades winding out from the center, petals opening along the axis, a swept comb that moires against its own rotation, and a corridor of rings you fly down. The lens effects are part of the composition rather than a filter over it: the prismatic fringe and the streaks running out from the center both respond to the music. Lens effects that listen

The chromatic aberration and radial blur are wired into the modulation matrix like any other control. By default Aberration follows Bass, so the color split punches outward on each hit, Aberration Scale follows Highs, and Blur Weight follows overall Volume, so the streaks lengthen as a track opens up. Assign them to Beat for a sharper, more percussive response, or set them to — to hold a fixed look.

Presets

Chord Star is the signature figure. Spiral Rotor winds it into blades; Petal Bloom opens it along the axis and views it raked from above; Comb Sweep turns two rotations against each other. Vortex Tunnel and Prism Drive both move the camera inside the figure — Prism Drive pushes the lens hardest, with the deepest streaks and the strongest split.

Quick start

  1. Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
  2. Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
  3. On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
  4. Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Camera

Some controls appear only after you enable a related mode or style. The settings panel always reflects the options available for the current selection.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • Give bass the larger structural motion and highs the fine detail or glow; the frequency split keeps the composition legible.
  • Try assigning Bass to Radius, then compare Mid, High, and Volume while the demo track plays. The slider's live fill shows the signal reaching that control.
