Visual Source

Visual Source

Show your camera, a shared screen, a video or an image as a visualizer, with the bass punching it in, then play effects and tracking looks over it.

Open Visual Source ↗
Default demo track · live audio-reactive settings

Visual Source shows your own picture: press Camera, Screen or Video · Image under Source. Until you pick one, a studio photograph stands in. The bass punches the picture in with Bass Punch and can jolt it with Shake; Fill crops it to the frame and Whole Picture shows all of it. Open Effects at the bottom of the settings to put tracking boxes, plexus lines, tiles, scan lines or any other effect over it. It is the same picture the effects rack uses, so your camera opens once however many effects follow it. In Performer mode, open Presets and pick the Visual Source pill: the Camera presets start your camera in one click.

Open Visual Source

Launch the visualizer with its matching left-nav entry selected.

Quick start

  1. Start the demo track, choose a local audio file, or enable a live input.
  2. Try a preset or style first, then open the section for the part of the image you want to change.
  3. On a control with Assign modulation, open the source picker, choose a signal, and watch the slider's live fill.
  4. Use Reset to Defaults whenever you want to return to the original look.

Audio modulation

On a control with Assign modulation, select the activity icon to open Modulate with. Choose a named source, or choose — None to leave the control unmodulated. After you assign one, its name appears below the slider; select that name to edit the route, or use Clear modulation to remove it. The slider track shows the live signal reaching the control.

Tips for a better audio visualization

  • The picture is live only: a rendered video does not include it. To keep a performance with your camera in it, record the screen while you play.
  • Leaving Visual Source for another visualizer switches the camera off, unless Visual Source is in the effects rack, which keeps it running under that visualizer.
  • Use Background Opacity at zero to fade the picture out over a backdrop.
