How Do I Make Organic Particle Visuals That Stay Readable?
To make organic particle visuals in BeamTracer, open Particle Equalizer in PERFORMER and select LIVING CELL. Under FLOW, adjust ORGANIC, TURBULENCE and LIFE SPAN. Shorter lives bring particles back sooner; longer lives give them more time to drift. EDGE TEAR concentrates more turbulence toward the outside of the sphere.
Hi, I'm Trina with BeamTracer.com. Watch the outside of the sphere as it moves. Start with one shape and change a single flow control at a time.
LIVING CELL with LIFE SPAN 12 seconds, TURBULENCE 0.90 and EDGE TEAR 0.80. All examples are silent native app captures.
How do I start a flowing particle sphere?
LIVING CELL supplies the sphere and its music response. Start the demo track, then open FLOW in the settings panel. Keep the same song and preset while comparing settings; changing the source and the flow together makes the result harder to judge.
- Open Particle Equalizer in Performer.
- Open the settings panel and select LIVING CELL under PRESETS.
- Press Play audio to start the demo track, or load your own music.
- Open FLOW and leave ORGANIC at 1.00 for free-flowing particles.
- Set TURBULENCE to 0.90, then compare LIFE SPAN at 2 and 12 seconds.
- When the look is ready, use RENDER for the loaded track's MP4 or WebM video; follow the video export guide for the output settings.
The preset supplies 120,000 particles. That is this example's setting, not a performance promise. Lower PARTICLE COUNT under CORE if playback struggles on your computer. BeamTracer's visualizers need a WebGPU-capable browser.
What does particle lifespan change?
LIFE SPAN sets the longest time a particle drifts before fading and returning home. Shortening it replenishes the shape more often. Lengthening it gives the flow more time to carry points away from where they began.
LIFE SPAN 2 seconds. TURBULENCE stays at 0.90.
LIFE SPAN 12 seconds, with the same preset and turbulence. These are separate takes of a moving system, not matching timestamps in the song.
If the cloud loses the form you wanted, shorten its life before adding more particles. A denser cloud can fill the screen without restoring a clear shape. The Particle Equalizer reference describes the different birth and return behavior in CELL, STRATA and NEBULA.
How do I keep the middle calmer than the edge?
Raise EDGE TEAR to make turbulence stronger toward the outside. At 0, the turbulence is even across the cloud; higher values make the outer region break up more strongly than the center. TURBULENCE still sets the overall push, so tune it first.
The opening clip uses EDGE TEAR 0.80. Compare it with the 12-second clip above, which keeps the preset's 0.40. Both use TURBULENCE 0.90. This changes where the flow acts most strongly; it does not freeze or mask the center.
Can I blend between a solid shape and drifting particles?
Yes. ORGANIC blends from particles sitting on the underlying shape at 0 toward free flow at 1. Try moving this control while the music plays. It gives you a direct way to tighten the picture between looser passages.
ORGANIC changes from 1.00 to 0.10, then 0.90. The settings panel remains visible so you can follow the adjustment.
To change the flow automatically, open Assign modulation on ORGANIC and choose a source. Start with one route and watch what drives the change. The band modulation lesson explains how to give separate frequency regions different jobs.
Can I use my camera as the particle source?
The sphere in this lesson is generated geometry. For a recognizable person or image made from points, use the separate video-to-particles workflow.
For a music video, save the particle look through the native video export flow. A video preserves the rendered picture; it does not turn a particle cloud into a laser-ready vector path. Keep the laser output guidance separate from the screen effect.
Start with the sphere, then loosen its flow.
