How Do I Make a 3D Research-Scan Visual in My Browser?
To make a 3D research-scan visual, open BeamTracer Model Pulse, expand PRESETS in the settings panel, and choose RESEARCH SCAN. It combines an animated particle jellyfish with specimen labels, connecting lines, zoomed insets and moving technical widgets. Start the demo track to see the graphics respond to music.
Hi, I'm Trina with BeamTracer.com. I like this look best when you can still recognize the creature underneath the labels. Start wide, then move closer once the viewer has seen the whole subject.
RESEARCH SCAN with CAMERA set to WIDE, SHOT SWITCHING set to MANUAL / MIDI / OSC, and BRIGHTNESS at 1.30. The built-in Orbital Perlin Blob track drives the scene. All examples on this page are silent.
How do I start the research-scan look?
Use Chrome or Edge with WebGPU available. The built-in model gives you a starting subject, so you can try the composition before preparing your own 3D file.
- Open Model Pulse. If another mode is selected, open VISUALIZERS → PARTICLES → MODEL PULSE.
- Press Play beside the track name, or load your own audio.
- Open the right settings panel and expand PRESETS.
- Choose RESEARCH SCAN. This selects the jellyfish and its coordinated annotation effects.
- For the opening view above, expand CAMERA, choose WIDE, and set SHOT SWITCHING → MANUAL / MIDI / OSC.
- Under COLORS, set BRIGHTNESS → 1.30. Leave it lower when you prefer the preset's darker treatment.
The preset buttons change the model's presentation and its shared effects together. AQUARIUM gives you a clean comparison before RESEARCH SCAN adds the plate.
What makes the lines follow the jellyfish?
The particle surface follows the model's embedded animation. The annotation layer comes from TRACK in the FX RACK. With FOLLOW → CONTOURS, it uses detail in the rendered model for its targets and inset connections.
Switch to PERFORMER to open FX RACK and edit TRACK. SPECIMEN enables the plate. TITLE & TOPIC holds its words, WIDGETS chooses the small graphics, and INSETS controls the zoomed pictures. The Specimen guide walks through those groups.
The original RESEARCH SCAN camera moves through closer framing. The title rotates between topic words, the audio name and the visualizer name.
These scientific-style labels are graphic design. They do not measure the jellyfish's biology. Some widgets visualize audio readings; decorative diagrams and topic text give the composition its research-terminal appearance.
How do I keep the picture readable?
Try AQUARIUM to see the moving model without the specimen plate. If you lose the subject after adding annotations, return to WIDE and simplify the widgets before increasing brightness again.
AQUARIUM keeps the model visible without the research-scan annotation layer.
For detail shots, try BIOLUMINESCENT MACRO. Its camera follows a nearby surface edge, with less prominent specimen graphics. Use the camera controls to change travel speed and the transition between views.
BIOLUMINESCENT MACRO uses close surface framing. It crops the creature deliberately, so establish the whole model first when its identity matters.
Can I use my own model or save the result?
CUSTOM MODEL → UPLOAD MODEL (.GLB) accepts a self-contained GLB. Follow the model preparation guide for supported animation and file limits. Start with the built-in subject to check the look before replacing it.
For a finished moving composition, use the video export guide. Model Pulse also has RENDER → PRINT for a still: SVG keeps HUD text and lines crisp over the rendered artwork, while PNG keeps the complete screen treatment. An ILDA file cannot carry this full particle picture and configured 3D widget scene.
The pictured Crystal Jellyfish model is by n-, under CC BY 4.0. BeamTracer renders its animated surface as particles and adds the lighting, camera treatment and overlays shown here.
