Resolume documents generators and video mixing, audio-driven parameters, and a built-in recorder. It doesn't require a paid pack to generate visuals. BeamTracer does not yet publish a Syphon or Spout feed; to bring BeamTracer's output into Resolume today, capture the browser window.

Verdict: I'd choose Resolume for multi-source video mixing at festivals. BeamTracer is my pick when I want to open a ready-made audio visualizer in the browser.

Synesthesia's scene library and license comparison separate the included visuals from Pro's extra routing options.

Verdict: Synesthesia is a strong choice if I want to write custom shader scenes. BeamTracer suits me when I want to choose a finished mode and shape it with modulation.

Plane9's feature list includes its recorder and scene combinations. Its publishing terms require credit for shared videos and restrict selling or licensing them, so check those before using Plane9 for client work.

projectM's official downloads span several apps and preset packs. Check the specific build you plan to use: audio capture, recording, and available presets aren't the same across every version.

How should you export a music visualizer for YouTube?

At 1080p or better, matched to the length of the track, with the loop point checked:

  1. Resolution: Export at 1080p minimum; choose 4K when your source and export plan support it
  2. Length: Match the visual to the track or excerpt you want to share
  3. Loop point: Compare the first and last frames before using a clip as a repeating background
  4. Branding: Add a subtle watermark or channel logo
  5. SEO: Title format: "Song Name" — Artist | Audio Visualizer
  6. Tags: Include "audio visualizer", "music visualization", and the artist/genre

How should you export a music visualizer for TikTok?

Vertically, short, and composed for the 9:16 frame from the start rather than cropped afterwards:

  1. Vertical format: Compose for a 9:16 frame and check the framing before export
  2. High energy: Choose modes with lots of motion (particles, fluid)
  3. Audio reaction: Choose a band that follows the part of the track you want viewers to notice
  4. Short loops: Try a 15–30 second excerpt and check the join before repeating it

Don't reuse the YouTube export

A 16:9 visual cropped to vertical loses the two-thirds of the frame the motion was composed in. Switch the frame first and re-export — it's the same composition, so it costs one pass, not a rebuild.
