ABOUT BEAMTRACER

A browser-based audio-visual studio built by working artists. Three professional apps — visualizers, oscilloscope, and laser show design — available in Chrome or Edge on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

THE STORY

BeamTracer started in a Bay Area home studio, with a love of live visuals, oscilloscope music, and laser art. The aim was to make those creative tools easy to try from a browser.

Open a visualizer and play a track, draw with sound on the oscilloscope, or turn your artwork into laser frames. You can explore all three before choosing a paid plan or connecting hardware.

BeamTracer is what happens when a creative-tools engineer who actually does the work — VJ sets, laser shows, oscilloscope music — builds the tools they wanted to use. Create in the browser and take the finished media into your own editing or show workflow.

It is about sharing the things that make this work exciting: watching music come alive, turning art into laser frames, and finding an interface that is fun to explore.

THE PLATFORM

One subscription, one account, one design language. All three apps speak the same MIDI, OSC, and ILDA — built to compose live together, not just sit on the same site.

PRINCIPLES

BROWSER-FIRST

Create in Chrome or Edge without installing a desktop editor. Supported network laser output additionally uses the free macOS BeamTracer Bridge app.

PROFESSIONAL DEPTH

Create ILDA files, connect supported laser DACs, map MIDI and OSC controls, and export video up to 4K. Check each feature’s plan and hardware requirements before a show.

INSTANT TRIAL

Start on the free tier without signing in. Sign in for limited free trials of supported premium features; see Pricing for the available allowances.

HARDWARE-AGNOSTIC

Choose supported laser DACs, MIDI controllers, and audio inputs. Use Chrome or Edge on Mac, Windows, or Linux; check the connection guide for your device.

YOUR WORK IS YOURS

Save your work on your device, and choose cloud sync when your plan supports it. Download media and project files for your next editing or show workflow.

CREATOR FEEDBACK

Read the public guides and changelog, and send feedback about the tools you use. Built by a working laserist for other creators.

THE COMPANY

BeamTracer is operated by BeamTracer LLC, a California limited liability company located in San Mateo County. The team consists of a single founder — Gary Cruz — based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

BeamTracer is the laser, scope, and visualizer software arm of AmazeStudios, a Bay Area creative studio working at the intersection of audio, light, and code. Where AmazeStudios produces shows and installations, BeamTracer builds the platform that makes them possible.
